Panettone is a traditional Italian holiday bread with origins dating back to the Roman Empire. It's notorious among bakers as one of the most difficult artisan breads to make. Our Kansas City bakery has been making an authentic, all-natural panettone since 1993.
The 48-hour process begins with the “mother” dough, a wild yeast starter similar to what we use to make our signature sourdough bread. Our panettone is delicate and airy with a sweet, rich flavor. Because the bread is fragile, we hang each loaf upside down as it cools to maintain the impressive dome shape.
