Farm to Market Bread Co. has been a leader in quality since 1993.  Locally owned and operated, Farm to Market delivers the freshest all natural local breads to grocery stores and restaurants daily.

Farm to Market was born in the back of the Classic Cup restaurant in Westport in September of 1993. Back then we didn’t have much beyond our skill and an overwhelming passion for bread making, let alone and money to pay rent.  We traded bread for rent and sold loaves out of the restaurant.

Two years later we moved to Waldo and we’ve been bringing the smell of fresh baked bread to the neighborhood ever since.  Today we supply fresh bread daily to 33 grocery stores and over 100 restaurants, caterers, and hotels.  Farm to Market’s breads can be found across the greater Kansas City metropolitan area, Lawrence and Topeka, KS.

As a local company we are involved in our community by participating in charitable events, education and job opportunities.  Regular donations are made to local food pantries and soup kitchens seven days a week.

Mark Friend is the bread master behind Farm To Market Bread Co. He trained at both the San Francisco Baking Institute and the American Institute of Baking. After moving to Kansas City in the late 1970s, he worked as a pastry chef at Crown Center, head baker at La Bonne Bouche, and production manager for Pacific Baking Co. He is considered among industry professionals as one of the leading experts on natural sour starters , and has lectured on sourdough at the American Institute of Baking and at national conventions. A founding member of the Bread Baker’s Guild, Mark is majority stockholder and President of Farm To Market Bread Co.
